What boredtype actually collects, why, and how to get it removed — written in plain language instead of legal boilerplate, and limited to what this site really does rather than a generic template.
You can use boredtype's typing test, themes, and settings without ever creating an account — none of that touches a server, it all lives in your browser's local storage. Creating an account adds an email, a username, and the results of tests you complete while signed in. We don't run analytics, don't use tracking cookies, and don't show ads today. If that last one changes, this page will change with it, before it happens.
| data | when | why |
|---|---|---|
| Email address | Creating an account | Sign-in, via Supabase Auth (email/password, Google, or GitHub) |
| Username | Creating an account | Shown on the leaderboard and in your account menu |
| Test results — wpm, accuracy, mode, duration/word count, language | Finishing a test while signed in | Your result history and the public leaderboard |
| Paid status + Stripe customer id | Completing an ad-removal purchase | Unlocking the ad-free purchase on your account, and letting Stripe's webhook find the right row |
We do not collect payment card details ourselves — those go directly to Stripe, our payment processor, and never touch our servers. See Stripe's own privacy policy for how they handle that data.
Everything below is stored only in your browser's localStorage and
never sent to us, whether or not you're signed in:
Clearing your browser's site data for boredtype erases all of it permanently — we have no copy to restore it from, since it was never sent to us.
Account and result data lives in a Supabase-hosted Postgres database. Access is restricted with row-level security: your account row is only editable by you, your results are only insertable by you, and the leaderboard view only ever exposes usernames and results — never your email or any account internals.
boredtype does not use analytics scripts, ad-tracking cookies, or third-party trackers of any kind. The only cookie in play is the session cookie Supabase Auth sets to keep you signed in — nothing else reads or writes it, and no data broker ever sees it.
You're entitled to, at any time:
Email boredtype@outlook.com for any of the above — we'll handle it as quickly as we reasonably can.
If what we collect or how we use it changes, we'll update this page and move the effective date at the top. We won't quietly expand what we collect without saying so here first.
