The rules for using boredtype, kept as short as we could reasonably make them while still covering what actually needs covering.
By using boredtype (the "site"), you agree to these terms. If you don't agree to them, please don't use the site. We may update these terms as boredtype changes; continuing to use the site after an update means you accept the new version.
The typing test itself needs no account. Creating one is optional and only adds a saved result history, a spot on the leaderboard, and the ability to carry an ad-removal purchase across devices.
You're responsible for your account and anything that happens through it, including keeping your login credentials to yourself. If you believe your account has been compromised, email us so we can help.
Results submitted while signed in may appear on the public leaderboard under your username. We reserve the right to remove any result or account we reasonably believe was produced by botting, scripting, or otherwise gaming the test rather than typing it — the leaderboard only means something if the times on it were actually typed by a person.
While using boredtype, you agree not to:
Custom text you paste in to practice with is processed entirely in your own browser to generate a typing test — we don't store it, review it, or send it anywhere.
We may remove content, suspend, or delete any account that we reasonably believe violates these terms, without advance notice. We'd rather not have to, and in practice this is aimed at abuse and cheating, not honest mistakes.
The optional ad-removal purchase is processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card details — Stripe handles that directly. Purchases are one-time and, once support for refunds is live, will be handled on a reasonable case-by-case basis; until then, email us if something went wrong with a charge.
boredtype is provided as-is. We work to keep it fast and reliable, but we don't guarantee it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at any particular time, and we're not liable for lost results, streaks, or leaderboard standing caused by downtime or bugs.
Pages on boredtype may link to third-party sites (our GitHub, our socials, Stripe's checkout). We aren't responsible for the content or practices of sites we don't operate.
